These lists of tree and shrub species in various parts of Kenya were a result of a project organized by Mazingira Institute in 1979. It was aimed at benefiting rural primary school children. The information collected gives an indication of the variety of uses some tees and shrubs found in the areas covered and of the potential of school children as a source of data. A list of 351 trees, their botanical and local names, the districts in which they can be found as well as their main uses, are provided in this publication.
