Human Rights and Peoples Rights: Stories, Pictures and Conversations about the Issues

A young person’s introduction to the ideas and concepts of human and peoples’ rights, was devised, developed, and produced by the Mazingira Institute of Nairobi, as a contribution to the start of a dialogue during the United Nations ‘Decade for Human Rights Education’ 1995-2005. While it is Kenya Specific’ in appropriate detail and historical example, its general thrust is that all our rights- civil and political, economic, social and cultural – are indivisible and interdependent, being deeply embedded in the traditions of the East African region. The struggles of the peoples of East Africa, in all their diversity can truly confirm the universalism of the UN.
