Abstract:  This report, sets out to review and assess Tanzania's success, since 1974, in implementing the recommendations on human settlements as contained in the Vancouver Declaration on Human Settlements and the Vancouver Action Plan.  Settlement policies and strategies are discussed first, followed by discussions on land, shelter, infra-structure and service, resources and technology for planning and construction of human settlements, institutions, management and public participation. Three case studies are used, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma and Morogoro.
