SINA - Settlements Information Network Africa

SINA promotes the sharing of experiences and information among those working towards improving the quality of life and the living environment of people- particularly the poor- in the villages, towns and cities in Africa. SINA also promotes awareness and recognition of the human right to housing and campaigns against forced eviction of people.

SINA network links several hundred members in African countries and outside Africa. The members are engaged in a wide range of activities such as self-help construction, health, nutrition, employment projects and so on. If your work has something to do with improving human settlements through community self-help, you may wish to join SINA. In this way you can regularly exchange ideas with other people doing the same kind of work, through exchange visits and a newletter.

If you wish to receive the newletter by mail, fill out the on line order form or contact Mazinigira Institute at:

Glocal Web

We look at how the global relates to the local, in a globalising and urbanising world. A world of skewed development in which the human dignity and empowerment of the few rather than the many is realized. We see the overlap of the global and the local, or the web of'glocalization' intensifying in diverse places, affecting social and decision process, practices and governance.

Our Voice

Our voice is for the realization of human dignity and empowerment of everyone - women, men and children and for ecological integrity everywhere. Making the global act for the local is of concern to us.

Our Ways

We integrate diverse ways to inquire and to act. Our work extends relevant knowledge and practices, promotes learning and cooperation and enhances ethical solidarity and advocacy.
