Abstract:
A young person's introduction to the ideas and concepts of
human
and peoples' rights, was devised, developed,
and produced by the Mazingira
Institute of Nairobi, as a contribution to the
start of a dialogue during the
United Nations 'Decade for Human Rights Education'
1995-2005. While it is
Kenya Specific' in appropriate detail and historical
example, its general thrust
is that all our rights- civil and political,
economic, social and cultural - are
indivisible and interdependent, being deeply
embedded in the traditions of
the East African region. The struggles of the
peoples of East Africa, in all
their diversity can truly confirm the universalism
of the UN.
