Nairobi workshop organized by Mazingira Institute on 'Evaluation
as a Tool for Institutional Strengthening' was held in 1997.
The aim of the workshop was to produce a conceptual framework
for using evaluation as a capacity building tool. It represents
the collective input of senior managers of 20 organizations
and institutions. The themes identified by participants as
necessary components of conceptual framework for institutional
strengthening are: institutional empowerment through ownership
of the evaluation process; and institutionalizing a culture
of evaluation. It serves as a useful guide to donors for planning
purpose.
